For twenty minutes, Celtic were top of the league, but threw it away with two preventable goals.

A win for Celtic in the tricky conditions would have put Celtic top on goal difference using our game in hand, and leave Chasetown and Lower Breck chasing us, and for the first half, it looked a likely outcome, with Celtic creating the most chances, despite numerous wayward passed. Liam Tongue and Benni Smales-Braithwaite forced Aaron Woolrich into early saves, while Charlie Doyle fired just wide when it seemed easier to score. A superb stop denied Smales-Braithwaite and from the resulting corner, Jordan Butterworth came within an inch of opening the scoring as the wind bent in his corner to smack the post, Kidsgrove somehow scrambling the ball away, with legs swinging and blocking for both teams.

The second half started with a great save from Charlie Monks against the run of play, flying to the top corner to palm away Logan Cousin’s effort, and moments later, Celtic’s chance creation got its just rewards, with Smales-Braithwaite linking up with Doyle to get the ball in for loanee Tunde Owolabi to bend between his markers and nod the ball into the goal. For ten minutes, Celtic topped the league, but Jack Byrne passed Charlie Monk's ball out from the back straight to Zayn Sadiq who put in a cross for Matt Rhead to equalise.

Celtic struggled to create chances after Smales-Braithwaite was replaced by Dylan Scott, though Max Leonard (on for Owolabi) came close, steering Scott’s ball to him into the side netting. Deep into stoppage time, Celtic attacked in numbers, looking for the winner, over-committing. Kidsgrove took advantage with a two ball counter-attack, long down the pitch, Alex Barnett played onside and put through one-on-one with a stranded Monks. The Celtic custodian could only watch the ball sail over his head and into the back of the net with no real time left to get anything back.
