Author: Taran Dhamrait - Fri 15 May 26Stalybridge Celtic can share that defender Aaron Chalmers has announced his retirement from football, bringing the curtain down on a career spanning almost 20 years.
A hugely respected figure within non-league, Aaron leaves the game having represented a number of clubs across the North West and beyond, including Oldham Athletic, Macclesfield Town, Hibernian, Mossley, Droylsden, Southport, Ashton United, Hyde United, Northwich Victoria, Buxton, Prestwich Heys and Bury as well as spending three spells at Bower Fold.
Having started his career in the professional game with Oldham Athletic, Aaron also spent time north of the border before forging an excellent non-league career. He earned promotions, captained sides and picked up multiple awards during his time in the game, including a hugely successful spell with Prestwich Heys.
Aaron first joined Celtic in 2015 and quickly illustrated his commitment, versatility and leadership qualities. Across three spells at Bower Fold, he went on to make 138 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals and registering six assists. Aaron even spent time as part of our caretaker management team back in 2024 before the appointment of Jon Macken.
Everyone at Stalybridge Celtic would like to thank Aaron for his outstanding service to the club across his three spells in blue and white and we wish him and his family all the very best for the future.
