Author: Taran Dhamrait - Sat 20 Dec 25Stalybridge Celtic is excited to confirm the arrival of Dontai Gabidon on loan from Macclesfield FC.
The 24-year-old winger joins Jon Macken’s side on loan until January 31st 2026 and signs in time for today’s fixture vs Vauxhall Motors.
Dontai joined Macclesfield for an undisclosed fee in October 2024 from FC United of Manchester, where he’d impressed over a three-year spell, making 75 appearances and scoring 19 goals at Broadhurst Park.
The pacy forward also spent two seasons with West Didsbury and Chorlton after initially starting his career at Altrincham. Most recently, he spent three months on loan at Warrington Town in the NPL Premier Division.
After joining Celtic, Dontai said: “I’ve always known about Stalybridge Celtic having played against them a few times during my career so I’m really pleased to have joined. I feel like I can bring something extra to the squad and help the team. I’m very excited to get going and help the Club push to where they want to be.”
Jon Macken added: “I’m thrilled we’ve managed to add Dontai to our squad. He’s an exciting addition who will give is something different going forward.
“With recent departures and with Benni recovering from injury, we felt adding a talented player to the squad was something we wanted to do and I’m delighted we’ve managed to attract Dontai to the Club.
“I’d like to thank everyone at Macclesfield for their assistance in facilitating Dontai’s loan, during what’s been a devastating week. Our thoughts are with Ethan and everyone at Macclesfield FC.”
Welcome to Celtic Dontai!
The Club wishes to thank Macclesfield FC and their Secretary Patrick Birch for their assistance in facilitating this transfer in what has been a heartbreaking week for everyone at Macclesfield. The thoughts of everyone at Stalybridge Celtic are with Ethan’s friends and family and everyone associated with Macclesfield FC.
We will be holding a minute’s silence at today's game with Vauxhall Motors in memory of Ethan McLeod and our former player Steve Waywell.
