Author: Taran Dhamrait - Wed 26 Jul 23We’re excited to have officially completed the signing of exciting midfielder Brandon Newell!
The highly rated 18-year-old joins the club from Macclesfield and impressed in Celtic’s pre-season friendly with Ashton United, now making the move to Bower Fold official ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Brandon became the youngest-ever recipient of the North West Counties First Division South Player of the Year award in 2022 after a stellar season making 32 appearances for Abbey Hulton.
This saw him make the move to Macclesfield in the summer of 2022 where whilst on dual registration with Wythenshawe Town, he suffered an ACL injury that ended his season early.
Now back and rejuvenated, Brandon says he is ready to go: “I’m really happy to join a great club with a great manager who I know well.
“I can’t wait to get going after being out with injury. I know a lot of the players already here and know we can achieve a lot this season.â€

Manager James Kinsey was delighted to have secured Brandon’s services, adding: “Brandon is somebody I got to work with last season for a short time frame before he had his ACL injury. He’s a young lad, with unbelievable potential and it’s hard to believe that he has been out for so long.
“His technical ability is frightening and he has the potential to get to wherever he wants to go. He’s a top lad and we have a great relationship with his family which can only aid us in getting him to where he wants to go.
“He was superb in our game against Ashton and we are sure the supporters will be buzzing to see him with us!â€

Welcome to Celtic, Brandon!
