Introducing your Stalybridge Celtic captain...Joe Bunney!
Manager James Kinsey has named Joe Bunney as Celtic’s new captain for the 2023-24 season.

Joe brings vast experience and leadership to the group and will be one of a number of leaders in the Celtic dressing room.
James Kinsey added: “Joe has had an unbelievable career so far. He’s somebody who we can relate to on a personal level and we know what we’re getting with him.
“When choosing a captain, we look for a number of things. We are fortunate in that we have leaders all over the pitch. We’ve got lads who’ve been captain at higher levels, and lads who have also got unbelievable experience from playing in higher divisions, we’re really fortunate with that.
“Joe will be class for the lads. He will bring that togetherness to the group and will go the extra mile to ensure that we create a positive relationship with the supporters too.
“That being said, all of the lads we have bring those qualities to the table, so we’re very fortunate, and we can’t wait to see this group start mixing together.â€
Celtic’s new captain told us: “I’m happy to be given the trust and responsibility of being the Club’s new captain and hopefully I can pass on my experience to the lads.
“I’ve been lucky enough to win this division for the past two seasons with Warrington Rylands and Macclesfield where we had a good group and that definitely helps.
“We’re a team and to get us where we want to be, it’ll take more than one captain. Yes I’ll wear the armband but we need everyone to be leaders and have accountability and responsibility as a team.
“We’ve got to stick together in the good and also in the difficult moments throughout the season and that will be partly my job to keep us all together and pushing in the same direction as a football club.â€
Congratulations, Joe!
