Author: Taran Dhamrait - Mon 5 Jun 23We’re thrilled to have completed the signing of midfielder Michael Brewster who becomes James Kinsey’s first signing of the summer.
The former Ashton United captain joins Celtic after departing Radcliffe, where he spent the second half of last season.
Prior to his spell at Radcliffe, Michael was a key figure and fan favourite at Hurst Cross. He spent three years with The Robins where he was also their club captain, making 87 appearances in total.
After making the move to Bower Fold, Michael said: “It’s an exciting time for the club, fans & community with new ownership, a new manager and a fresh start to shape a new season.

“I’ve played against Stalybridge many times over the years, some of which in local derby’s and the fans have always travelled in numbers! I was looking for a local club to play my football for the coming season and after speaking to manager and hearing the plans, it just made sense!
“I’m excited to get going, to meet the team the manager assembles and help work towards getting this club back where it should be. I can’t wait to meet the people around the club, the fans and generally getting back to work on the grass!â€

First Team Manager James Kinsey added: “Michael is exactly the type of player that we want to bring to the club. He will run through brick walls for us and he’ll have extremely high demands from everybody. He’s 27 so his best years are about to come and we’re delighted he’s chosen us!â€
Michael began his career in the academy at Oldham Athletic before featuring for the likes of FC United of Manchester, St Mirren, Southport and Skelmersdale before joining Atherton Collieries. He followed then manager Michael Clegg to Ashton United in 2019 where he remained until earlier this year before leaving and completing the rest of the season at Radcliffe.
